And when the event was coming to end, I could swear I heard people actually singing the National Anthem. I don’t think I have ever heard that here before. Certainly not in the last few years.

I am actually thinking of buying an American flag to hang outside of my house. For the first time ever.

It’s beginning to look like a brand new world. Uh-huh.

I live on Bush St; someone came along overnight and put magnets over ALL of the street signs.

How wonderful.

It might now be 9 weeks til spring, but this is the view that awaits me each winter morning from my side of the bed.

Just makes you wanna jump up outta bed and start the day, doesn’t it?

A local greenhouse (that is only open in the warm weather, cowards…) starts the countdown to Spring every year at the end of January.

10 weeks seems like an eternity right now. Especially with the cold and the blowing snow that was coming in right about the time I took this… and continued through the night.

But next week when this sign flips to the single digit of 9, well, the wait seems remarkably shortened, and it feels as if a load has been lifted off of our shoulders.

The days are getting longer in tiny increments..every day we gain a couple of minutes of light.

The seed catalogues start coming in the mail (aka garden porn).

And meanwhile, to the west across the frozen tundra in San Francisco –and on the left coast of this blog– it was a lovely 66 degrees and sunny. Sigh.

There are days when I wonder why I live in the Midwest.

Today was definitely one of them.

Not feeling all that well this week, I headed outbound to get meds at the local Drug Mart, where I spotted this sign. Let’s see, you’ve got your homicides, your femicides…and now your antacides.

Curiously, “antacids” is spelled correctly everywhere else in the store.

Hmmmm.

yesterday and today i’m attending a video production workshop at the bay area video coalition. it’s a little different route than i’m used to taking to work … south on the 27 instead of west on the n-judah … and it’s good fodder for catching new photo opportunities. have a great weekend, all!

OMG i have been such a slacker. thank GOD for batman otherwise this site would have been silent indeed.

this photo is from the inside of the powell BART station … if you look at this wall from a 90-degree angle at a little bit of a distance, it just looks like a flat tiled wall. get a little close and you can see the texture. these tiles are also in the MUNI part of the station, and i think in other stations as well. each of the market street subway stations are decorated a little differently … powell has a red stripe down the wall, civic center has a blue stripe, the van ness station has no stripe (i think?), etc. anyway, it’s just another reminder that not everything is at it appears at first glance … and that a slight shift in perspective can change your entire outlook.

today i am off to a video production class at bavc. from what i understand, we’ll be using pro level (or at least prosumer level) equipment and software to make our projects … hello, final cut pro! i’ll be taking along my -real- camera to document the experience. we’ll see if any of those end up here.
